A 2-year-old girl in Indiana died after being left overnight in a closet with a space heater, causing her body temperature to rise to 109 degrees Fahrenheit. The girl’s parents, Sintia Perez and Jace Hirschy, admitted to leaving the child in the closet at 7 p.m. on November 26, leaving the space heater turned up nearly to its maximum setting. The couple’s two other children were removed from the home following the incident, which authorities described as “extremely unhealthy” conditions. Perez and Hirschy are now facing one count of neglect resulting in death, along with two additional charges of neglect tied to the unsafe environment for their other children.
